Crafty Le Crunch Kids
Issue date: 1 February, 2011
Issued on behalf of: Sopexa Ireland / Le Crunch Apples

Over 4000 Primary school children from more than 520 schools submitted entries in the Le Crunch Nature’s Heroes competition. It was quite a task, but the panel of judges has whittled them down to 9 finalists across the 3 age categories. Now it’s up to the public to decide the winners.

Photos of the finalists’ entries will go on display in Dunnes Stores grocery outlets from Wednesday, 23 February. Members of the public will have four weeks to use the in-store voting forms to nominate their favourite in each category. All voters will be entered into a free draw to win a luxury weekend break for two at Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa.

The children were invited to make a poster or create models of sporty Le Crunch Bunch characters using any of the six varieties of Le Crunch apples as well as other healthy foods. The finalists are:

Carys McCluskey, Meadow Bridge Primary School, Hillsborough, Co Down
Caoimhe Gallagher, St Patrick’s Primary School, Mayobridge, Newry, Co Down
Bethany Carroll, Candice McCarthy & Zainab Tairu, St Paul's NS, Athlone, Co Westmeath

Age 9-10:

A preview of the finalists’ entries may be seen on www.ouitolecrunch.com

The category winners will be announced in April and each will get a E250 toy, music, sports or art voucher plus lots of Le Crunch goodies and a Certificate of Merit. All the runners up also get a whole load of Le Crunch goodies.

All teachers whose pupils entered the competition were included in a free draw for a luxury weekend break for two at Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa. The winner is Ms Leona Cummins, St Peter & Paul’s NS, Balbriggan, Co Dublin.
